Residents of Kano and Damaturu are reporting multiple blasts and gunfire. Residents say they heard blasts and gunfire in Nyanya, a district in Damaturu on Saturday night at about 8.30 pm.Two residents of Kano posted in an online forum that they could also hear multiple blasts and gunfire at about the same time.
Yobe Police Commissioner, Patrick Egbuniwe later confirmed the explosions and blasts in Mala Matori village in Damaturu saying, the Joint Task Force (JTF) had engaged Boko Haram militants.
However, we have not been able to confirm reports of fighting in Kano.
