Senate to assist police halt bombings in Taraba

THE sudden infiltration of Taraba State by hoodlums has become a source of worry to members of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.Taraba has been known as the most peaceful state in the North before it turned to a theatre of bombings and violence.

Worried by this development which has continued to encourage bombing activities, the members have collectively resolved to work closely with security operatives to quickly track down the perpetrators of the nefarious act and halt further destruction of lives and property in the state and other parts of the country.

The House Committee Chairman on Agriculture and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Bwacha during his condolence visit to the Monarch of Jukun kingdom, the Aku-Uka of Wukari, Dr. Shekarau Masa Ibi yesterday said the Senate would work round the clock to assist security agencies to bring to book terrorists terrorizing the state and the country.

Bwacha, who along with his entourage inspected the three new generation banks, the police station and the local branch of the Nigeria Brewery, noted that the attackers through God’s intervention, would soon be arrested.

He told the Monarch who is also the chairman, Taraba State Council of Chiefs that the need for him to commiserate with the people and to ‘find ways to foster peace with the people of the zone “has become necessary.”

The Senator who was sad over the massive destruction carried out by the bombers, urged the people, especially the youths to remain calm and not interrupt the ongoing investigations of the attacks.

The Senate, he declared would “work tirelessly with the security agencies to fish out perpetrators of the carnage.”

For his part, the Aku-Uka observed that the wanton destruction of lives and property by the bombers” does not only affect the people of Wukari, but the state and nation as whole.”

He debunked claims that the youths of Wukari were planning reprisal attacks, adding that the “attack was not a religious or ethnic attack.”

Bombers numbering over 30 recently breached the peace of Wukari when they attacked and destroyed buildings of three banks, police station and the branch of the Nigeria Brewery.
