THE Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Nnamdi Okore-Affia, has described Zamfara State as the most peaceful state in the country, while also asking corps members posted to the state to be security conscious.The Director General who made this known yesterday at the NYSC orientation camp in Tsafe while addressing 2012 Batch ‘B‘ corps members posted to the state in continuation of his visits to camps in the country, said Zamfara had track record of being a peaceful state since its creation in 1996.
“I want to urge you to respect your host community culture, religion, and dress decently. Zamfara is the most peaceful state in the country and I want to call on the media to tell Nigerians exactly what Zamfara is all about particularly as regards security. It is very peaceful. Be sharp, wise and respect the traditional rulers of your host communities,” said Okare-Affia.
While commending the people of the state for their maturity and understanding in remaining law-abiding irrespective of political and religious differences, he called on the corps members to also abide with the traditions, norms and laws established by the state in order to support the peaceful co-existance between muslim and non-muslims in the state.
The State Coordinator of the NYSC. Mrs. Ruth Bakka. told the DG that over 1940 corps members registered with the camp in the 2012 Batch ‘B’ posted to the state.
