Nobody was Beheaded In Ogun, Police

Contrary to the rumors going round the town that three beheaded corpses were dumped on the Ijebu-Ode-Ibadan expressway on Sunday, the Ogun Police Command yesterday dispelled the rumour that three beheaded corpses were dumped. The command’s spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement on Monday in Abeokuta copy of which was made available to our correspondent, the described the message as a mere rumour, calculated to create fears in the minds of the people.
The release in part read:”this message being circulated is a mere rumour, calculated to create fears in the minds of Nigerian s and unnecessary civil disturbance”.

The statement posited that the rumour is the handiwork of some mischief makers, urging people to disregard it.

It would be recalled that late evening yesterday, it was posted on the social network (facebook) that three ladies whose heads have been beheaded were thrown from a Range- Rover Sport Jeep at Ijebu-Ode/
Ibadan road.

It was further stated in the message that the three ladies were students from tertiary institutions whose their identity cards were said to be seen alongside in their handbags.

The message posted read:” 3 corpses that their head has been beheaded suspected to be females was thrown from a Range-Rover Sport Jeep at\ Ijebu-Ode--Ibadan road this evening (Sunday). One is fair in
complexion with UNILAG School I.D card (Yetunde Ajao) inside her hand-bag, the second is an OOUITE student (Oyindamola Esan),also fair in complexion and kinda tall and the last one is short, plumpy and
dark with no identity...”, the message stated.

But the Ogun State Police Commissioner, CP Ikemefuna Okoye assured the good people of the State of the Command commitment in providing adequate security for all and sundry in the State.

Speaking with our correspondent in his office at the Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, the State Police Commissioner, CP Ikemefuna Okoye disclosed that the information sent jittery to many parts of the
country as he received several calls concerning the issue.

Okoye advised that the usage of all the social networks should not be to incite the public on false information, rather, it should be use to educate, inform and seek for knowledge, “the way our people has turned the social network thing to now is not good, the information was not true, when I got the information, I called the Area Commander of Ijebu, in fact, the man just left my office now back to Ijebu. I want to appeal to our people who always use the face book not to use it to cause unrest or incite the public unnecessarily”, Okoye advised
