The Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters has explained the displeasure of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with the leader of the National Governors Forum (NGF), the Governor of Rivers state; Mr Chibuike Amaechi.
Gulak said Amaechi ran the NGF as its chairman as a trade union and without having recourse to the laid down party mechanism of resolving issues.
He explained that the governor’s forum is now led by governors from the opposition party, hence the establishment of the PDP Governors Forum, which is headed by the Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Chief Godswill Akpabio.
The PDP decided to establish a forum for its governors since the party no longer had influence on the NGF since other parties had governor-members in it.
Mr Gulak made this known while speaking on our breakfast show; Sunrise Daily, where he also denied any signed agreement or ‘gentleman agreement’ by the President to run for just single term as recently claimed by the Governor of Niger state.
He further explained that the emergence of Chief Tony Anenih as the chairman of PDP’s BoT was to enable the septuagenarian avail the party his political experience to help the party develop further.
