2015: Police Detain Jonathan’s Challenger In Suleja Prison Over Rape

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Zuba ward of FCT, Mr Cyriacus Njoku, who took President Goodluck Jonathan to court seeking a determination of whether or not he is eligible to contest the 2015 general elections, is now in detention in Suleja Prison in Niger State.
LEADERSHIP had exclusively reported that Mr Njoku had filed an appeal in the Court of Appeal against the judgment of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, presided over by Justice Oniyangi after his case challenging the edibility of President Jonathan was thrown out by the High Court.

Our source who spoke on the condition of anonymity on the arrest and purported trial and imprisonment of Mr Njoku said it was a sign of the sliding of the country to dictatorship.

“It is believed that the arrest and detention of Mr Njoku shows the increasing surge in the culture of intolerance and impunity of President Jonathan’s government who has come under great pressure from political opponents.”

The source further reported that Mr Njoku was secretly arrested and charged before an obscure court in Suleja which is outside the Federal Capital of Abuja where he works.
