Abia CP Vows To Fish Out Kidnappers, Traffickers

The Abia Police Command has expressed its determination to rid the state of kidnappers and other criminal elements. The Police Commissioner, Mr Usman Tilli, said this at a news conference on Monday in Umuahia.

Tilli assumed office as police commissioner in the state on March 18. He said that the command had mapped out strategies to identify and fish out all criminal hideouts across the state and urged members of the public to oblige the police with useful information on the activities of criminals in the state.

“Let us work together to make Abia State safer.

‘’I am warning kidnappers in Abia State, robbers, child traffickers and other criminals to lay down their criminality or long arms of the law will catch up with them.

“They have no room in Abia State. We want to make the Abians to live with their two eyes closed.

“That’s why we are working round the clock to ensure that the whole area is free from all criminalities.

“The command has recorded four kidnappings; three of which had been rescued and re-united with their respective families without paying any ransom.’’

Tilli said that a three-year- old boy was recently rescued by the command from his captors, adding that the suspects would soon be arraigned in court.

“Master Loyd Dennis Chikwendu, only three years old, was kidnapped and we arrested the suspected persons; and by so doing, after arresting as many as possible, the boy was taken to the church where the mother used to go.

“And the innocent boy was rescued and he rejoined his family.

“Then, we later discharged the other people, but initially they said they have no idea about it.

“When we lay our hands on them, worked on them, the boy was rescued.

“The boy, who is just completely innocent, three-year- old, has been rescued alive 24 hours after he was kidnapped.’’

Tilli said that the police command was set to make Abia a friendlier environment for residents.
