Explosion Near Emir Of Kano’s Palace

Explosion yesterday rocked a mosque near the entrance of the Emir of Kano’s palace known as “Kofar Kwaru”. But an eyewitness, Nazifi Soron-Dinki, told LEADERSHIP yesterday that angry youths thereafter lynched one of the bombers and apprehended the other.

Soron-Dinki said it was after night prayer, about 8pm, when they saw two people coming down from a tricycle. “The next thing we heard was a heavy explosion and the tricycle was immediately on fire. The people around the mosque and others coming out of the Emir’s house shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’, meaning ‘God is great’, and at the same time chased the bomber, lynched him and pushed him into the tricycle that was already on fire.”

Our correspondent visited the scene shortly after the incident and saw heavy military and police presence. A police van was seen carrying an unconscious person lying on his back in the van to the emergency unit of the state-owned Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital which is not far away from the scene.

LEADERSHIP further gathered that, apart from of the suicide bomber that was lynched, no life was lost while the emir’s building was not affected by the explosion.
