Police probe illegal sect in Niger


THE Niger State Police Command has commenced investigation on the activities of an Islamic sect otherwise known as All Muslims Security Guards (AMSG) based in Suleja township in Suleja Local Government Area of the state.

Saturday Tribune further gathered that the lid was blown off the illegal activities of the 85- member sect with a training ground at a school on the outskirts of Suleja township following the arrest of two members of the gang with a carved wooden gun for robbery operations.


The two suspects, identified as Isah Musa and Abdulateef Kabiru, allegedly confessed to the police during interrogation that they were members of the sect whose major objective of coming together under the umbrella of All Muslims Security Guards is still shrouded in mystery, adding that the wooden gun was found on them by the police as of the time of their arrest.

An insider police source who spoke to the Saturday Tribune on the condition of anonymity on Friday in Minna, the state capital, disclosed that the suspects had been transferred to the State Criminals Investigations Department for further investigation, while the suspects were still being held in the police custody
It added that the authorities of the state police command had intensified efforts at effecting the arrest other members of the sect and the sect leader (names withheld) who are still at large as of the time of filing this report on Friday.
