Arisekola buries wife

THE high and the low in the society, on Friday, converged on the Oluwo Kekere, Bashorun, Ibadan, Oyo State residence of the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji AbdulAzeez Arisekola-Alao, for the burial and the final fidau of his wife, Alhaja Risikat Olaronke Alao, who died on Thursday at the age of 68.

After the remains of Alhaja Alao were interred at about 9.45 a.m. within the premises of the expansive home of the businessman and Islamic leader, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheik Busari Suara Haruna III, presided over a session where prayers were said for the deceased and sermons were given by three clerics, namely, the Imam of Gbagi Central Mosque, Ibadan, Alhaji Mojeed Mogaji; Alhaji Muideen Ajani Bello and Khalifa Ahmad Bamidele.

In the sermons, members of the audience were reminded of the inevitability of death and the need for all and sundry to be prepared to embrace death at a God’s appointed time and, therefore, do good at all times in order to meet the creator in peace.

The preachers paid tributes to Alhaja Alao, whom they described as a pious wife and a mother to all.

In a sermon, wives of charitable and influential men were admonished not to rest under the shadows of their husbands’ kindness to the people, but they should sow good seeds for themselves too so as to find the face of Allah on the Day of Judgment, as exemplified by Alhaja Alao.

Dignitaries at the event, drawn from the business world, the clergy, politics as well as the civil society, included the deputy governor of Oyo State, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, industrialist, Chief Oba Otudeko and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III.
