CHELSEA Won't Give up On ROONEY Says Mourinho

JOSE MOURINHO is ready to kick off the new season without Wayne Rooney.

The Chelsea boss remains relaxed despite the continuing stand-off with Manchester United over their unsettled England striker.

And with three top forwards already on the books, Mourinho maintains he is prepared to play a waiting game for Roo.

He said: “No, there’s been no movement... we have made our bid. But we are calm because we are happy with what we have.

“Now the team has three strikers and I think that is good. We have competition in the team and that is good for everybody.”

Romelu Lukaku continued his scoring streak with two more goals in the 8-1 thrashing of an Indonesia XI. Demba Ba also scored as the Blues ran riot.

But boss Mourinho dismissed the idea that absent striker Fernando Torres should be worried. He added: “I think he’ll be pleased because during his time here he was basically the only striker.”

And he paid tribute to captain John Terry’s contribution to the tour on a night when he scored a trademark, close-range header.

Skipper Terry, 32, had an injury-ravaged season last term sparking concerns over his future. But Mourinho said: “He has trained very hard for 15 days and for most of those we had two sessions, so that’s more than three hours a day.
