24 Year Old Butcher Killed In Kaduna


A 24-year-old butcher, Salisu Saidu, of Dankende village of Igabi LGA of Kaduna State was killed by some young men who invaded the village from Rigachukwu village at the weekend.

Investigations revealed that the late Saidu, who is a supplier of meat to those who make suya, went to request for his money from his debtors who owed him about N20, 000, was angrily turned back on the ground that the Sallah festive period was over and there was no money on ground to pay him.

Angered by the treatment meted on him, the late Saidu assured his debtors that he would use every available means to get his money back, and one of those owing him replied that only those who are alive can ask for money. The situation generated a hot argument and late Saidu left for him home at Dankende.

At about 7pm on Friday, some young men visited the late Saidu and invited him outside that somebody was there to see him. Surprisingly, the visitor turned out to be his customers from Rigachukwu and before he could realise it, they descended heavily on him, beating him and stabbed him on different parts of the body.

He was later rushed to a hospital in Rigachukwu were he was confirmed death after all medical attentions failed as he had lost so much blood from the several stabs.

The mother of the deceased, who is a widow, Hajia Halima Saidu said her son was a peace-loving and easy-going person and wondered why people he had trusted would terminate his life over money owed him.

She said, her son told her before his death that some of his customers were owing him and were not ready to pay him, adding that, “even the very day they came to call him, he hurriedly jumped up thinking that they were going to pay him his money, not knowing that his life was going to be terminated”.
