Temitope had accused Kareem of beating and maltreating her, claiming that her husband would not provide for her needs.
“I stopped the business I was doing because of debts he made me to incur. He does not trust me, he thinks I am unfaithful to him,’’ she said.
Temitope also said that her husband had once used charms on his private part and attempted to have intercourse with her.
“There was a time he wanted to have intercourse with me, I felt so uneasy with him, only to realise he had used a shear butter like cream on his male organ.
“It was then I realised he wanted to charm me by having intercourse with me, apart from the fact that he had threatened many times to bath me with acid.
“He called my mother a witch. I am tired of his incessant troubles, I pray the court to separate us,” she said.
“Although, she has not in any way offended me, but if she wants us separated, I am ready to let her go.’’
The President of the court, Chief Nasiru Odelola, said since it was the first hearing of the case, he would give the couple a week to think about their decision.
Odelola adjourned the case to Oct. 24, for further hearing or judgment. (NAN)
