The police said the incident happened at Omole Estate, in Ojodu Berger area of Lagos State.
The investigating police officer, Uwalaka Nichodemous, said in the course of investigation, Joy reportedly confessed to giving the stolen items to Sunday Lukpata and Sunday Okom.
Both men were subsequently arrested and arraigned on one count of receiving stolen property.
The charges read in part, “That you, Usile Joy, on or about November 15, 2013, at Omole Estate, Ojodu Berger, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District, being a servant in the employment of one Tola Akim, did steal the sum of S600, equivalent to N102,000 and Gold jewelry valued at N300,000, property of your employer.
“That you, Sunday Lukpata, did dishonestly receive and retained $600, equivalent to N102, 000 from one Usile Joy.
“That you, Sunday Okom, did dishonestly receive and retained £150, equivalent to N39, 000 and assorted gold jewellery, valued at N300,000 from one Usile Joy.”
The police prosecutor, Clement Okomoise, said the offences were punishable under sections 409, 285(7) and 326 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
