CITRUS COUNTY, FL (KTVI) – A man in Florida has admitted to smothering his infant son because the child was crying he wanted to play video games.
Neighbors were shocked to hear that Cody Wygant, 24, confessed to holding the baby’s nose and mouth, then wrapping him tightly in a blanket and placing him in a playpen.
Wygant did not check on his son for five hours while he binged on video games and TV shows. The baby was blue and not breathing when he finally checked.
He called for an ambulance, but it was too late.
Police say Wygant has an “extensive” criminal record in California, including charges for rape and trespassing.
The child’s mother was not home at the time.
