Subsidy removal: ACN chiefs diagree over Oshiomhole

Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Edo State, Mr. Thomas Okosun, on Saturday said his chapter would report the Ekiti ACN chairman, Mr. Jide Awe, to the national leadership of the party. Speaking with our correspondent in the state capital, Benin, Okosun said the state chapter would drag Awe to the party’s headquarters over statements credited to the latter, who allegedly described the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, as ‘confused.’

Reacting to Awe’s reported condemnation of Oshiomhole’s position on the deregulation of the downstream sector of the oil industry, Okosun said it was ‘misleading.’
He said, “The comment by the Ekiti chairman is misleading. As a party, we shall report him to the national leadership of the party.
“The governor is a well-respected and highly placed person in the hierarchy of the leadership of the ACN, therefore we shall not be exchanging words with the Ekiti ACN chairman.”
He added, “Let me assume at this moment that the chairman was misquoted or misrepresented. Having said that, we will like to state clearly that the governor is still very much in touch and in tune with the people that brought him to power.”
