Court Dismisses Suit Against Salami’s Reinstatement

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja yesterday struck out the suit filed by an Abuja-based lawyer, Noah Ajare asking it to direct President Goodluck Jonathan not to reinstate the suspended Court of Appeal president, Justice Isa Salami.Jonathan had earlier declined to approve the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC) to recall Salami on the grounds that there were pending suits on the matter.

But Justice Abdu Kafarati yesterday held that the plaintiff lacks the locus standi to sue in a matter that has nothing to do with him.

The judge said, “A person has locus if he has sufficient interest in a matter brought to court or adversely affected by it.
