It was fun as Pepsi, the official beverage of the reality TV show, Nigerian Idol, had a day out in Lagos with the 10 finalists of the season 3. Wizkid, the music ambassador of Pepsi, led the contestants to a memorable outing that was meant to build self-confidence in the contestants’ bid to emerge the winner.Tagged ‘Day Out with Wizkid”, contestants had a work-out at the gym of the prestigious Radisson Blu Hotel Victoria Island, Lagos. Many of the contestants hailed Pepsi for such a ‘wonderful idea’, saying that they were refreshed to take up the challenge of being the best not just in the Nigerian Idol contest, but also in their musical career after the show.
The contestants also took turns to sing along with Wizkid at a studio session. This was like a ‘bomb’ for the contestants as they could not hide their feelings during the recording. “This is really great. The opportunity of mixing up with a superstar like Wizkid is a good booster to my quest at really being good in my musical career. I appreciate Pepsi’s contribution”, said Angus Okafor, one of the contestants.
Job Emmanuel (Joe Emma), succinctly puts it: “Pepsi has been up and on with so many exciting things. I am very much pleased with their good work. Right from the auditioning period, they have shown that they care so much for the contestants”.
Wizkid charged the contestants to always believe in themselves, saying that self-confidence makes a lot of difference in the life of a man. According to him, everybody has a stint of greatness in him/her but the greatness can be realised through self-confidence.
Head Marketing Seven-Up Bottling Company Plc, Mr. Norden Thurston, said that Pepsi as an international brand has always been associated with music as it had over the years signed such music icons as Michael Jackson, Britney Spears and the host of others with Beyonce being the most recent. He said that the expectation of Pepsi is that the winners of Nigerian Idol will make it big in their music careers.
