60 Die In Edo Road Accident

No fewer than 60 persons were feared killed yesterday in ghastly road accident involving a trailer belonging to Dangote Industries, a petrol tanker and a luxury bus at Ugbogui in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State.Eyewitnesses said the accident occurred at2:30pm along the ever-busy Sagamu-Benin Expressway,
They told LEADERSHIP WEEKEND that the trailer had a burst tyre resulting in its running into the stationery tanker and the luxury bus, followed by a huge fire ball.

An official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who pleaded that his name be not mentioned, because he was not authorised to address the press on the matter, said the trailer was coming from Lagos.

He however, did not say where the luxury bus with the 60 passengers that died was heading to or coming from.

He said, “Three were rescued, and we estimate that over 60 persons died.

Three others in the trailer died. As I speak, the whole place is blocked; fire fighters cannot even access the area.

“The whole place is still burning. The Dangote vehicle had flat tyre.

It hit the petrol tanker, fell and hit the luxury bus.”
