Here comes the iPhone 5S: Next-gen iPhone display production to begin next month

Apple’s iPhone 5S is still eagerly awaited despite the expectation that it will be an iterative update similar to the bump from iPhone 4 to iPhone4S, and now we’re one step closer to seeing the handset launch. According to a report from Japan’s Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, Apple supplier Sharp will begin mass production of the iPhone 5S’s display next month. LG Display andJapan Display will supply Apple with next-generation iPhone displays as well, according to the report.

We have already seen other parts for Apple’s iPhone 5S begin leaking recently and the phone is expected to launch in early fall following some supposed manufacturing delays that forced Apple to push back its planned summer launch.

The next iPhone is expected to closely resemble the current iPhone 5, but may add an upgraded processor, a better rear camera, new color choices and possibly even a fingerprint scanner.
