Jose Mourinho Hits Out at Romelu Lukaku, Tells Belgian to Explain Why He Joined Everton

Chelsea’s forward, who is on loan at Everton for the season, has repeatedly stated he has had no contact with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho since joining the Toffees earlier this season. The bustling forward also stated that he is ‘out to prove Moruinho wrong’ for letting him leave Chelsea on loan.

Lukaku has scored seven times in eight league games for Everton and his chatter is beginning to irritate the man who supposedly sent him out on loan. During his pregame press conference on Friday, before Chelsea play Southampton on Sunday, Mourinho hit out at the young Belgian forward.

“Romelu likes to speak. He’s a young boy who likes to speak,” Mourinho said. “But the only thing he didn’t say is why he went to Everton on loan. That’s the only thing he never says.”

Unperturbed at causing a potential rift with the 20-year-old Belgian international, Mourinho kept going.

”And my last contact with him was to tell him exactly that. I said ‘Why do you never say why you are not here?”

On a mission now, Mourinho urged Lukaku to come clean and tell everyone why he went on loan to Everton, rather than stay and fight for his place in Chelsea’s starting lineup.

”So it’s something he should talk about because he likes to speak,” Mourinho continued. “It’s something he should say, the reason why he’s not with Chelsea and is in Everton.”

What is this big mystery Mourinho wants Lukaku to unveil?

Hopefully we’ll find out sooner rather than later what the cryptic Portuguese manager, who is the king of mind games, is going on about. Lukaku is scoring goals for fun at Everton and Chelsea’s lack of in-form or healthy strikers — Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba have all struggled — is causing plenty of fans and pundits to question Mourinho’s decision to let Lukaku leave on loan and why he can’t recall him in January.

The Belgian netted twice in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool and loving life as a big fish in a medium sized pond with the Toffees, just like he did during his season-long loan with West Brom in the 2012-13 campaign.

However there’s a bee in Mourinho’s bonnet and Lukaku is the only man who can remove it. Tread carefully now, Romelu.

How the youngster reacts now will determine his future at Chelsea as Mourinho is likely to be around as manager for quite some time. Then again, it seems as though Lukaku’s future at Stamford Bridge is already in serious doubt.

Probably best he’s out on loan, although Chelsea could certainly use his goals to propel them to the Premier League title…
