Kano State Governor’s Father Escapes Death as Gunmen Attack Mosque in Kano

Father of Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Alhaji Musa Saleh Kwankwaso on Tuesday night escaped death when unidentified gunmen attacked and opened fire on worshippers at a mosque in Kwankwaso town in Madobi Local Governmnt Council of the State.


It was gathered that it was a long gun battle between the gunmen and the police attached to the Mosque but at the end of it all, three persons were killed while 12 others sustained varying degrees of injuries. They are said to be receiving treatment at a near-by hospital.

It was learnt that the incident occurred at about 8pm yesterday (Tuesday) in Madobi. The governor’s father, who is also the District Head of Madobi escaped unhurt.

The Kano State Police Command confirmed the incident.

The Command’s spokesman, Magaji Musa-Majia, ASP, in a press statement said all the injured persons had been rushed to a near-by hospital, where they are presently receiving treatment, adding that the motive of the attack was yet to be established.

He said the Command had launched an investigation into the incident with a view to get the perpetrators.

He solicited for the cooperation of the general public in offering useful information to the police to enable law enforcement agents apprehend the perpetrators.
