GUNMEN, on Tuesday, attacked a primary school at Hausawa quarters, in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State, as they shot three teachers and a headmaster. According to a source, who preferred anonymity, the incident occurred around 8.30 a.m when the gunmen entered into the school premises and ordered everyone to lie down.
During the ensuing melee, the headmaster and three of the teachers sustained gunshot injuries and had been admitted to Mallam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
Speaking with newsmen, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Magaji Musa Majiya, said the gunmen attacked the school on motorbikes at about 8.30 a.m, adding that immediately after the attack, they fled the scene.
He, however, noted that two teachers who sustained injuries during the attack had been treated and discharged from hospital, adding that the bullet had been extracted from the body of the headmaster, as he was responding to treatment.
The police spokesman added further that no pupil was hurt, adding that the headmaster and teachers were the casualties.
Also in Benue State, unknown gunmen killed an officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) serving at Apa Local Government Area of the state.
During the incident, which occured last Sunday at Kaduna K’Olijamu in Edikwu ward, according to an information gathered by the Nigerian Tribune, the officer, James Nathaniel, was said to have been killed in his farm.
