Contrary to recent allegations by the Senate that the Ministry of Interior was aiding recruitment scam in the paramilitary services under it, especially the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) by opening an illegal website, the minister of interior, Comrade Abba Moro, has said that the ministry has never relied on online recruitment. The minister, who noted that agencies relying on online recruitment will have challenges, was reacting to assertions by the Senate Joint Committee on Federal Character Commission and Inter-governmental Affairs, Labour and Employment’s probing the alleged lopsided recruitment in some ministries, Departments and Agencies ( MDAs).
Comrade Moro pointed out that the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Board (CDFIPB),the umbrella body shouldered with the responsibility of recruitment, promotion, appointment and discipline in the para-military agencies processes, does not include online submissions.
The ministry, according to him, has not commenced any process of recruitment and even if it is to be done, online submissions cannot be adopted by the Ministry and its agencies.
He however, stated that for the sake of checkmating corrupt and sharp practices, taking into consideration the present level of unemployment, it may decide to engage consultants in the nearest future.
Comrade Moro reiterated that with the dogged effort of the Civil Defence to fight employment scams, over 460 scammers have been arrested with over a hundred prosecuted in different courts across the Federation as well as the discovery of over 30 illegal websites designed to defraud jobseekers.
Reiterating his ministry’s resolve to fight the ugly trend to a standstill, challenged those with genuine evidence of payment staff of the Ministry or any of the agencies for proper handling.
