THE Imo State government has said it would partner a United States (U.S.) based non- governmental organisation (NGO), Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE), to tackle drug abuse, criminality, violence, excessive alcohol intake and cultism among youths and peer groups.Disclosing this yesterday at the Government House, Owerri while receiving the leader of the organisation, Sefuluai Holimon, who paid him a courtesy visit, Governor Rochas Okorocha, noted that the partnership was desirable to check associated crimes and problems,
He urged the organisation to make good use of the Imo College of Advance Professional Studies (ICAPS) in the training programme to remodel the lives of the erring youths.
He added: “It is indeed a good opportunity for us to partner in training and retraining programmes. The best option is for your organisation to liaise with Imo College of Advance Professional Studies (ICAPS) to retrain our teachers and possibly build this programme into our curriculum.”
