SAD NEWS: Newborn Baby Critical After ‘Drunk’ Firefighter Crashes Into Pregnant Mom

A newborn girl is on life support at a Bronx hospital after a drunken off-duty firefighter crashed into the baby’s mother that forced her to give birth two months prematurely, court documents state.

FDNY Lt. Sean Farrell, 39, who was also busted for driving drunk in 2010, struck Mantaz Begum, 42, as the expectant mom crossed a Parkchester street on her way home at about 6 p.m., according to authorities and court papers.

“Yes, I was driving. I was just making a turn on Westchester [Avenue], and all of a sudden, boom! I hit those ladies,” Farrell said after the collision, according to his criminal complaint.

Police sources said Farrell admitted he drank two beers.

Farrell refused to take a Breathalyzer and was charged with DWI, authorities said.

Begum was taken to a nearby hospital, where she delivered the baby girl by C-section, court papers state — adding that the baby is now on life support.

The baby’s lungs are not fully developed and she can’t breathe on her own, police sources said.

Farrell was busted for drunken driving in 2010, when cops intervened in a road-rage incident after Farrell allegedly cut off a taxi driver on the Upper West Side, authorities said.

Farrell was arraigned Thursday night around midnight and charged with vehicular assault, assault, reckless driving and drunken driving. His bail was set at $200,000 and his license was suspended, the Bronx District Attorney’s office said.
