Persons believed to be hoodlums operating within Asaba and its environs yesterday allegedly raped housewives around Ogbeke Square in Ogbeosowa Quarters during a house-to-house raid in the area. Victims, who narrated their ordeals to LEADERSHIP, said the hoodlums did not collect their money but that they made a “mince meat of the married women without using condoms’.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the operation started at about 2:30am after the criminals fired several gunshots into the air to scare away security agents who have been patrolling the area in recent times.
Reports said they broke into a house near a night life joint in Ogbeosowe, and met several women who were in the company of their husbands and then separated them from their men.
LEADERSHIP checks revealed that Ogbeke Square in Ogbeosowe Quarters is known for cult related activities allegedly perpetrated by idle youths.
But police officers at the “A” Division said they have arrested several persons in the past, who confessed to be members of different cult groups, with many of them confessing to being sponsored by politicians.
