Nasarawa Govt. Donates Office, Vehicle To WAEC
Nasarawa State Government on Friday donated a building and a new Peugeot vehicle to support the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to establish its presence in the state. The office donated is situated on Al-Makura St.in Lafia. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Hajiya Zainab Abdulmuminin, presented the keys of the new office and vehicle to the WAEC's Zonal Coordinator, Mr Basi Nyam, on behalf of the government.
According to her, the donation is for the smooth take-off of the activities of the organisation in the state.
She said that the state government accorded priority to the education sector, hence the need to ensure effective service delivery.
Abdulmuminin, who conducted the WAEC officials round the new office, explained that the gesture would reduce the movement of principals to Jos for registration of students.
Responding, Nyam assured that WAEC would make judicious use of the office accommodation and the vehicle.
“Now that we have a new office, I am hopeful that by next year, the May/June WAEC examination’s registration in all parts of the state would be conducted in Lafia,” he said.
Nyam thanked the state government for coming to their aid in providing them with office accommodation and the vehicle.(NAN)
