Gunmen kidnap Lebanese in Benue

A Lebanese working with Rock Bridge Construction Company, Mohammed Dhabre, was on Wednesday, kidnapped by unknown men on the company’s premises on the Otukpo-Igumale area of Benue State.According to an eyewitness, Dhabre was on the premises of Rock Bridge that fateful day when gunmen, numbering about 10 stormed the site around 3.00p.m in a Nissan bus and started shooting into the air to scare away people.

The gunshots, the source said, caused a stir causing workers at the construction firm to scamper for safety.

It was in the process that Dhabre was picked up and hoarded into the Nissan bus with the kidnappers speeding towards Utonkon in Ado Local Government Area of the state.

The Otukpo police area commander, Samuel Darakoji, who confirmed the incident, said the kidnappers were yet to open any line of contact with them or the construction firm to ascertain their demand.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Philip Agena, told the Nigerian Tribune on phone that the police were still searching for the kidnappers and the Lebanese while adding that the abductors abandoned the Nissan vehicle they came in and a Toyota Hilux of the company they took away.



The police spokesman added that the kidnappers ran into the forest when they discovered that the police were trailing them.
