PDP carpets Lagos assembly over call for resignation of aviation minister

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Lagos State, on Thursday, berated the leadership of the Lagos State House of Assembly for calling for the resignation of the Minister of Aviation, Mrs Stella Oduah, over the recent crash of DANA aircraft in Lagos. The party, in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Taofik Gani, noted that the direct and remote causes of the crash must be probed and any official found culpable must be brought to book irrespective of the status.

The party viewed the call by the speaker and other Lagos lawmakers as one made in bad faith and playing politics out of very serious national calamity that required soberness.

It also wondered why the same Lagos law makers, especially the speaker, did not call for the resignation of Governor Babatunde Fashola or his Commissioner for Transportation whenever there was accident involving BRT buses, ferry boats or even during the mismanaged doctors’ sack that led to the death of many people in the state.

The statement reads “This hypocritical and callous style of governance in the State is no more popular. Lagosians themselves no the number of motorists and pedestrians BRT buses have killed as a result of carelessness of the drivers, in spite of which nobody in the government has been punished”

The party admonished the Speaker of the State Assembly to examine well his utterances on national issues because such are presumably on behalf of Lagosians. He should lead the example in Resignation by resigning as the Speaker of the House to allow proper adjudication over the N7bn criminal charge against him.
